Nothing particularly interesting has happened of late.
I turned 16 last week. So far, 16 has been spectacular. Presumably, it's all uphill from here. Although I suppose that is tremendously debatable.
Today, as we were pulling out of the church parking lot after first service, we saw this cute, little, old couple pull in on scooters. He had on a teal shirt, and her dress was the same color. They seriously had to be in their 60s... They were so cute, all matching and everything! And, the best part : when they parked and took off their helmets, they both stopped and combed their hair in the middle of the parking lot before walking into church. It was hysterical. Pretty much made my day.
Today, in class, we discussed what we would do if we had a million dollars. One kid said he'd buy out Bass Pro, another girl said she'd buy a million Webkinz, Annie said she'd buy an elephant named Rafiki... and then one little boy said he'd buy the world. When informed that one million dollars wasn't quite enough to buy the world, he said, "Well, then, I guess I'll just buy myself a small country." It was pretty amusing. If I had a million dollars... (We were assuming that we'd already donated a whole bunch to the church and missionaries, etcetera, and had just a million left over for ourselves.), I think I'd buy a custom Breedlove. That's prob'ly $50,000 or so, of the $1,000,000. So after that... I'd go shopping - at Anthropologie. :) Blow a couple thousand there, and after that? ...The sky's the limit, as the saying goes. I'd prob'ly throw in an old, beat-up Mustang and a trusty pickup, too. If I had enough left. You never know, with a million dollars. What really amuses me is how quickly I can imagine up ways to spend so much money. I don't think a million dollars would be ideal, really. It'd prob'ly just as well be 2 or 3 million. Or even a billion, while we're at it. If you're going to imagine things... you might as well be absurd, right? ;)
I have read Psalm 34 probably 27.5 times in the last couple days. And I keep finding more amazing stuff in it. So I'm going to do what I do occasionally that drives everyone up a wall, and type up the whole dang thing so everyone can experience the glory. :)
Psalm 34 - The Lord delivers His own
(A Psalm of David when he pretended madness before Abimelech, who drove him away, and he departed.)
1 I will bless the Lord at all times;
His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
2 My soul shall make its boast in the Lord;
The humble shall hear of it and be glad.
3 Oh, magnify the Lord with me,
And let us exalt His name together.
4 I sought the Lord, and He heard me,
And delivered me from all my fears.
5 They looked to Him and were radiant,
And their faces were not ashamed.
6 This poor man cried out, and the Lord heard him,
And saved him out of all his troubles.
7 The angel of the Lord encamps around all those who fear Him,
And delivers them.
8 Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good;
Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!
9 Oh, fear the Lord, you His saints!
There is no want to those who fear Him.
10 The young lions lack and suffer hunger;
But those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing.
11 Come, you children, listen to me;
I will teach you the fear of the Lord.
12 Who is the man who desires life,
And loves many days, that he may see good?
13 Keep your tongue from evil,
And your lips from speaking deceit.
14 Depart from evil and do good;
Seek peace and pursue it.
15 The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
And His ears are open to their cry.
16 The face of the Lord is against those who do evil,
To cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.
17 The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears,
And delivers them out of all their troubles.
18 The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart,
And saves such as have a contrite spirit.
19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous,
But the Lord delivers him out of them all.
20 He guards all his bones;
Not one of them is broken.
21 Evil shall slay the wicked,
And those who hate the righteous shall be condemned.
22 The Lord redeems the soul of His servants,
And none of those who trust in Him shall be condemned.
